The Catskills Region has six NY Rising communities distributed over three counties – Delaware, Ulster, and Greene. The region’s communities are located along rivers and waterways that experienced significant flooding during Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and/ or Tropical Storm Lee. Significant water bodies include the Hudson River Susquehanna River, Upper Esopus, and Stony Clove Creek. As of May 2019, there are 49 NY Rising projects in various stages of implementation within the Catskills Region. Examples of the types of projects in implementation include the construction of a regional health care facility, repair and resiliency retrofits to a water treatment plant, and the installation of back-up power at critical community and government facilities.

NOTE: The NY Rising Community Reconstruction plans referenced on these pages are comprehensive planning documents created by and for the affected communities. For this reason, the documents describe projects that were discussed; however, not all of these were selected by the community as priorities to be funded.
