The Living with the Bay Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) was formed in April 2016 with a kick-off meeting being held on May 24, 2016. This group represents both local and regional stakeholders with environmental, educational, government, business and civic backgrounds.

The Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery invites the public to attend the sixth Rebuild by Design (RBD) Living with the Bay (LWTB) Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting at Knights of Columbus in Oceanside, NY on May 23, 2017. The CAC is a group of stakeholders assembled by the State to serve an important advisory role in planning and implementing the LWTB Program. At this meeting, GOSR and its consultant will provide an update on recent activities related to the LWTB program and the CAC will be presented with the list of prioritized LWTB projects.

Horseshoe Crab Adventure

Each June, the full moon draws thousands of horseshoe crabs to Long Island's estuarine beaches to mate and lay eggs. Join Seatuck Environmental Association for an evening walk along the shoreline in search of this ancient spectacle.
In Search of Dragons

Dragons do exist, but we'll need nets instead of swords to get a close-up look at this fierce predator. We'll learn all about the incredible dragonfly and the important role it plays in the ecosystem.

Established after Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of Long Island, LWTB aims to improve drainage and enhance natural resources to minimize the area’s risk from flooding and damage to life and property along the Mill River in Nassau County. Stop by and find out about the upcoming LWTB projects! While the parents are learning about LWTB, the kids will enjoy fun, interactive games and activities that teach about water and our ecosystem.
